In today’s IEM market, finding a pair that offers both great sound quality and comfort at a reasonable price can be challenging. The IVIPQ-100 earphones cater to this demand by providing a balanced, warm sound profile that appeals to a wide range of music lovers. I found it very enjoyable in every department, especially the vocal; it’s a bit forward and has a shine.

My Moondrop Down Pro shows it very well, but with my ifi Hip Dac 2, the vocals are in the same position as the other instruments, with a bit bold & full-bodied bass. My Cowon Planue R2 & Hiby R3 show almost the original signature of the IEM. I experiment with various ear tips & cables, as I always do. I will explain more about this later in the review.

IVIPQ was kind enough to send me the ivipQ 100 to review. I am not affiliated with the company, and of course, I was not asked for any copy checking before publishing. All opinions shared in this review are my subjective thoughts.

One thing more: The review is based on my personal experience and what I hear using different sources. Your experience may vary because of personal preference and physical differences like the shape & depth of ear canal.

Unboxing the IVIPQ-100 is a pleasant experience due to its minimalist yet functional packaging. Instead of a traditional cardboard box, the earphones come in a very nice and sturdy carrying case. This case not only provides excellent protection for the earphones during transit but also serves as a convenient storage solution. One of the standout features of the IEM is its fit and comfort. The lightweight design ensures that the IEMs sit comfortably in the ears, making them suitable for long listening sessions without causing fatigue. The soft cable is a pleasure to wear, as it doesn’t create any pressure over the ears and eliminates microphonics. The included silicone ear tips, although basic, provide a decent fit and noise isolation, making the earphones suitable for various activities, from commuting to working out. Overall, the earphone offers a comfortable and enjoyable listening experience, making them a reliable choice for everyday use.

Let’s dive deep …

The IEM delivers a satisfying and well-controlled sub-bass response. Listening to “Baby I Love Your Way” by Big Mountain, the sub-bass impresses with its good body and authority. The bass lines in the song are delivered with a satisfying depth that adds to the overall richness of the track. Importantly, the sub-bass does not bleed into other frequencies, ensuring that the mids and highs remain clear and distinct. The result is a well-rounded listening experience where the bass enhances the music without overwhelming it. This characteristic makes the set particularly enjoyable for genres like reggae and hip-hop, where a strong bass presence is essential.

It handles the mid-bass with finesse, delivering an enjoyable thump without muddying the sound or overpowering the other frequencies. On “Take on Me” by A-ha, the kick drums and bass lines are clear and provide an enjoyable thump that adds energy to the track. The mid-bass is well-balanced, ensuring that it complements the rest of the frequency spectrum rather than dominating it. This results in a cohesive and engaging listening experience, allowing the dynamic nature of the song to shine through. Its ability to reproduce mid-bass with clarity and punch makes it a versatile choice for various music genres.

The male vocals are presented with a natural timbre that is rich and textured without being overly emphasized. The vocals are detailed and maintain a sense of presence, making them stand out against the background instruments. Billy Joel’s “River of Dreams” showcases the IEM’s impressive handling of male vocals. The warm body in the sound signature adds a touch of sweetness to the voice, making it both smooth and engaging. The IEM captures the nuances in Joel’s performance, ensuring that the listener can appreciate the depth and emotion in his singing. This natural and warm presentation of male vocals makes it an excellent choice for listeners who enjoy vocal-centric music.

The IEM shines with female vocals, as demonstrated in “Don’t Wanna Lose You Now” by Gloria Estefan. Estefan’s voice is rendered with a sweet and energetic quality that is both clear and well-textured. The IEMs highlight the nuances in her performance, making the vocals sound lively and engaging. The clarity of the set ensures that every note and inflection in Estefan’s voice is perfectly reproduced, adding to the emotional impact of the song. This ability to present female vocals with such detail and energy makes the it a versatile and enjoyable IEM for vocal enthusiasts.

The soundstage, while not the widest, presents a sense of space where instruments occupy their own positions within the mix. The IVIPQ-100 manages to keep each instrument well-separated and distinct, even in complex passages. “Hey you” by Pink Floyd is an excellent track to test the IEM’s instrument separation capabilities. The guitars, drums, and vocals all occupy their own space in the soundstage, making it easy to pick out individual elements of the mix. This clarity in instrument separation enhances the overall listening experience, allowing the listener to appreciate the intricacies of Pink Floyd’s arrangement. The IEM excels in providing a clear and organized sound, which is impressive for its price point.

The treble is airy and well-extended, providing a sense of space and detail that is enjoyable for listeners. Metallica’s “Hero of the Day” pushes the earphone’s treble performance. The IEMs add sparkle and detail to the cymbals and high-pitched guitar parts. This airiness creates a sense of openness in the sound, making it enjoyable for tracks that rely on bright and energetic treble. However, in some recordings or at higher volumes, the treble can become a bit shouty or harsh. Listeners who prefer a smoother or rolled-off treble might find it a bit fatiguing during extended listening sessions with brighter recordings.

While the IEM doesn’t offer the widest soundstage compared to high-end IEMs, it performs surprisingly well within its price range. Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” is a classic rock anthem that benefits from a spacious soundstage. The placement of instruments is clear – Bonham’s powerful drums are anchored in the center, Jones’ bass line provides a solid foundation, and Page’s iconic guitar riffs have a defined space within the mix. The IVIPQ-100’s ability to create a wide and deep soundstage enhances the overall listening experience, making it a standout feature for budget IEMs.

The IVIPQ-100’s detachable cable opens the door for customization. Upgrading to a pure copper cable can slightly thicken the bass response, making it a good option for bass-lovers who find the stock sound a bit lean. Alternatively, a cable like the NiceHCK MixPP can add warmth and a touch of boldness to the overall sound. Experimenting with ear tips can further enhance the sound and fit. Spinfit W1, Omni, and CP 145 offer good all-around options. For a focus on instrument separation, the TRI Clarion is a good choice. Penon Liqueur (black) adds weight to the bass section while maintaining clear mids. Ultimately, the best tip option depends on your personal listening preferences.

ivipQ 100 Review

The IVIPQ-100 carves a niche in the crowded budget IEM market by offering a well-rounded and enjoyable listening experience. While it doesn’t aim to be the ultimate audiophile tool, it excels in its core function – delivering music in a clear, engaging, and comfortable way. The sound signature prioritizes balance and warmth, making it suitable for a wide range of musical styles. Vocals shine through with natural detail, and the instrument separation is commendable for the price point.

The stylish design, detachable cable, and included carrying case add to the overall value proposition. Sure, the treble can be a bit shouty at times, and bass heads might crave more low-end presence. However, for budget-conscious listeners seeking a comfortable and versatile IEM that prioritizes musicality, the IVIPQ-100 is a compelling option. It might just become your go-to companion for rediscovering your favorite music collection.
