I got this product as a review unit from HiFiGo. Except from the review unit I did not receive money or any other necessities to influence the review on their favor. This is my honest and unbiased opinion on Juzear Dragonfly 81T. My likes and dislikes on this IEM are based solely on my own personal experience. Design & Build Quality

The Juzear Dragonfly 81T is built with resin using 3D printing technology. You can definitely feel the preciseness in every edges and corners. It’s pretty lightweight, but not as light as other offering in the market using resin materials. So even though it’s light it doesn’t feel cheap at all.

The faceplate of Juzear Dragonfly 81T looks astonishing, the design is pretty unique. The logo with the brand name is on the center with a silver finish, which actually kind of looks good. It is rare for me to find a branding look attractive on a device or any series that I’m going to use. Two carved silver lines are on two edges. The same silver lining covers the whole faceplate on borders of the faceplate. You can actually see the silver borders if you’re looking at it from an angle, which is a nice detail for me.

The inner side of the drivers are black, if I say more precisely it’s semi transparent. But you can’t actually see what’s inside, as it’s really dark. On the lower part of the inner side of the shell, there is the company’s in the model’s branding with the left and right indicator. The branding is decently bored which I don’t like, but no one’s going to notice the lower part of the drivers anyway.

The cable of Dragonfly 81T looks and feels really premium. The cable is made of silver plated copper of high quality. The color of this 2-pin cable is pure white, which actually kind of suits well with this drivers. The cable has no memory whatsoever, so there are no chance of tangling.

This is actually a nice addition to this IEM, the interchangeable jacks. They have provided two L shape jacks of 3.5 and 4.4 termination. The branding on the check is subtle, and the design and details feels really durable and premium on hand.

Interchangable Jacks- Juzear Dragonfly 81T

The design of the carrying case of Juzear Dragonfly 81T looks different than the competitors. The white color and the texture of the case reminds me of snakes I used to see back in the days. The branding on the case has a nice finish and doesn’t look bad. The zipper or the case is smooth, except on the corners where it slightly stocks while zipping and unzipping. The case is perfect for carrying the driver with the cable and also the interchangeable jacks, but it’s going to be difficult if you are carrying a medium sized that don’t go with you.

You’d never know how disappointed I was upon seeing the eartips. Especially the foam ones are the worst. They are slightly sticky, and even if you generally press them, it takes few seconds to recover their form. They’re not that comfortable either.

The silicone ones are pretty comfortable and reminds me of Spinfit’s eartips. But on the inner side you can definitely see the rough edges of the silicon pretty clearly without any magnifying glass. The red and black ones doesn’t have the same problem though. “You’d never know how disappointed I was” well now you know!

The micro fabric cloth is a nice touch to this set, I appreciate it.

Comfort

Despite having a large shell, the Dragonfly Juzear 81T is quite comfortable and lightweight. Doesn’t feel uncomfortable even after wearing them for long. But if your ears falls under the short category, my friend, you’re gonna face some trouble!

Pairings

Eartips
  • Stock
  • DDHIFI ST 35
  • Final E (Black)
  • Spinfit CP100+
  • Tri Clarion
  • KBear 07
  • Dunu Candy
  • Spinfit W1

Most of the eartips pairs well with this set, except clarion, Final E and Spinfit W1. Except from these and of the eartips mentioned above will pair well.

Cable
  • Stock
  • KBear (Inspiration C) 4 core copper
  • NiceHCK mixPP

The quality of the cable is phenomenal. But that doesn’t mean it will sound nice. I’ve personally paired it with a copper cable and improvement of the sound was well worth the trial. Pure copper or OCC you name it, any copper cable that doesn’t have a touch of silver plating or pure silver will pair well with this set.

Sound Quality

Juzear Dragonfly 81T has nine drivers inside each shells, 1 DD of 10mm is purely designed for bass response. Four of the eight balance amateur drivers delivers mid-range and the other four works tirelessly for treble. The acoustic chamber inside is also created using 3D printers like the shells. It’s a pretty technical device overall.

Technical parts aside dragonfly 81T is a balanced sounding IEM. It delivers a moderate amount of bass of high quality. The mid-range and treble prioritize clarify and openness. Let’s discuss it in details how this IEM really sound in every region.

JUZEAR Dragonfly 81T Review: Detailed yet smooth

For reference, here’s a graph from Squiglink.

Sub-Bass

The Sub-bass is of high quality, soft and rumbly. It’s quite controlled and doesn’t seem to bleed much. It’s deep and full-bodied. The only thing about the Sub-bass I cannot appreciate is it’s quantity. Surely it’s designed for people who like really clean sound devices, I’m definitely not among them, an imposter you may say.

Bass heavy tracks doesn’t sound how they should, you can definitely feel the lack of bass on those specific tracks. Other than that, it’s really a good sub-bass in general.

Mid-Bass

Again, the Mid-bass sound amazing, even thought it’s not my cup of tea. It’s tight, fast and accurate, doesn’t bleed into the mid-range. The texture of the Mid-bass is subtle and tasteful. Drum’s slams are nice, but not “metal material”.

The bass doesn’t wreak any instrument or vocals, prioritizing clarity. Which you may like but I prefer some warmth. Pairing it with slightly warm sounding DACs does the job. You must avoid bright sources if you care about warmth like me.

Mid-range

Sheesh! All those compromises in the Bass are definitely worth it, when you prioritize the mid-range. The mids are crystal clear and sound really soothing. If that doesn’t convince you, then the sound of piano with 81T definitely will.

Male Vocals

Male vocals sound incredible on Dragonfly Juzear 81T. They’re rich and full-bodied, the Sub-bass is responsible for such quality. The vocals are positioned properly. Energetic and especially ascending vocals sounds the best on them. They’re detailed and can reach high without making me fatigued.

One down side would be, as it lacks a bit of warmth, not every vocals sound their very best.

Female Vocals

Female vocals on Juzear 81T is energetic and engaging without creating serious fatigue. The texture of artist’s vocals are on the smoother side. The ascending of the vocals are quite powerful. Although the descending are not the same, while notes keep scaling down, it suddenly drops on certain scenarios.

Thanks to the airy presentation in the treble region, even though the vocals are forward, it doesn’t feel that sharp. But the “s”/ “sh” sound are definitely there, can be an issue for sensitive ears. All in all, whether they’re powerful female vocals or the low pitched one, you’ll always be amazed no matter what!

Treble

The treble section is crystal clear, crisp and extended. It’s on the energetic side, but does not overwhelm with energy. It’s quite detailed, yet doesn’t create fatigue. All those restrictions on the bass now come to make sense.  The lower treble is extended and energetic, while the upper treble creates a sense of airyness and space.

Instruments

As expected, the instrument separation is quite promising. Every instruments and even the vocals are well separated from other instruments. Electric guitar sound quite dominating, acoustic guitar on the other hand complements the whole track. Bass drums and snare sound really well, while the splash may feel slightly overwhelming. Other than that, most of the instruments sound nice.

Soundstage & Imaging

The soundstage of Juzear 81T is wide which justifies the price. On second thought, it could be wider but it makes it up with the precise imaging. You can easily spot almost any instrument playing in the background.

Mobile Gaming

Juzear Dragonfly 81T dominates on gaming section with ease. I’m actually having trouble recently for high ping. So the real-time locations were delayed for 0.5 to 1 sec. Even so, it was a beast when it came to locating enemy’s footsteps. Firing sound was easily detachable as always. Genetic explosion didn’t create any severe problems. The in-game voices were also clear.

On Indie and open world games, it struggled a bit for the lack of bass. But the soundstage makes up for that. The airy presentation made it open and enjoyable either way.

Why should you consider it
  • If you prefer clarity
  • If you like open mid-range
  • If you like airy treble
  • If you need precise imaging
  • If you’re a gamer
  • If you like balanced sound
  • If you like energetic vocals
Why should you look elsewhere
  • If you’re a bass lover
  • If you’re looking for the widest soundstage
  • If you’re a fan of warm mid-range
  • If you don’t have a warm sounding source
